Seedance 2.0 Mini, 2.0 Fast, 2.0 and 2.5 Compared: Price and Features

The four Seedance models count tokens the same way. How their rates, resolutions, lengths, references and edit workflows differ, with the price of real clips.

A swimmer in a chrome suit raises both arms at the edge of an indoor pool at night as the turquoise water rises in a wave, a frame from a Seedance 2.0 clip.

Castaly offers four Seedance models: Seedance 2.0 Mini, Seedance 2.0 Fast, Seedance 2.0 and Seedance 2.5. They count tokens the same way, so for one setting the price differs only by the rate. Their controls differ more: resolution, length, how many references they accept, and which editing workflows they support.

This guide compares the four on price and on what each one lets you do in the Studio.

Rates are per million tokens.

One token count, four rates

Every Seedance model counts a clip's tokens from its canvas and its length, and nothing in the prompt changes the count:

frames = 24 × seconds + 1
tokens = floor(width × height × frames ÷ 1024)

Each resolution and ratio renders on one fixed canvas:

Ratio 480p 720p 1080p 4K
16:9 864 × 496 1280 × 720 1920 × 1080 3840 × 2160
9:16 496 × 864 720 × 1280 1080 × 1920 2160 × 3840
1:1 640 × 640 960 × 960 1440 × 1440 2880 × 2880
4:3 752 × 560 1112 × 834 1664 × 1248 3326 × 2494
3:4 560 × 752 834 × 1112 1248 × 1664 2496 × 3328
21:9 992 × 432 1470 × 630 2206 × 946 4398 × 1886

A 5-second 720p clip at 16:9 is 1280 × 720 × 121 ÷ 1024 = 108,900 tokens on all four models. The rate decides the rest:

Model 480p 720p 1080p 4K
seedance-2.0-mini $1.7086 $1.7086 — —
seedance-2.0-fast $3.4357 $3.4357 — —
seedance-2.0 $8.645 $8.645 $9.5095 $4.94
seedance-2.5 $13.2145 $13.2145 $14.4495 —

Prices are per million tokens. Seedance 2.0 Fast costs twice Mini's rate, Seedance 2.0 about five times, and Seedance 2.5 nearly eight times.

What a clip costs

At 16:9 with Generate audio on or off:

Model Resolution 5 s 10 s 15 s
seedance-2.0-mini 480p $0.09 $0.17 $0.26
seedance-2.0-mini 720p $0.19 $0.37 $0.56
seedance-2.0-fast 480p $0.17 $0.35 $0.52
seedance-2.0-fast 720p $0.37 $0.75 $1.12
seedance-2.0 720p $0.94 $1.88 $2.81
seedance-2.0 1080p $2.33 $4.64 $6.95
seedance-2.0 4K $4.84 $9.64 $14.45
seedance-2.5 720p $1.44 $2.87 $4.29
seedance-2.5 1080p $3.54 $7.05 $10.56

Seedance 2.0's 4K rate is about half its 1080p rate, so a 4K clip costs only about twice the 1080p clip despite having four times the pixels.

seedance-2.0 · 5 s · 1080p · 16:9 — 245,025 tokens, about $2.33 at today's price.

Where they differ

Resolution and length

Mini and Fast stop at 720p. Seedance 2.0 is the only one that renders 4K, and Seedance 2.5 the only one that runs past 15 seconds, up to 30. Seedance 2.0 offers five fixed lengths in the Studio; the other three accept any whole number of seconds in their range, or Auto duration.

References

All four accept a first frame, a last frame, or a set of reference images, videos and audio clips, but not frames and references in the same request. Seedance 2.5 takes far more: up to 30 images, 10 videos and 10 audio clips, against 9, 3 and 3 on the 2.0 family. On the 2.0 family, an audio clip cannot be the only reference.

Editing and extending

In the Studio, Seedance 2.5 adds workflows the others do not offer: edit a source video with a text instruction, extend a clip, or let the model choose with auto. It can also return MOV as well as MP4, and hand back the last frame of the result as an image, which is useful for chaining shots.

seedance-2.5 · 10 s · 1080p · 16:9 — 488,025 tokens, about $7.05 at today's price.

Reference videos and Auto duration

A reference video changes the bill in two ways. Its own length is added to the token count at 24 frames a second on the output canvas, and every token is charged at a lower input-video rate. A 5-second 720p clip with a 5-second reference video is 216,900 tokens:

Model Input-video rate That clip
seedance-2.0-mini $1.04 / M $0.23
seedance-2.0-fast $2.0429 / M $0.44
seedance-2.0 $5.3105 / M $1.15
seedance-2.5 $7.904 / M $1.71

Reference images, first and last frames, and audio references add no tokens.

Auto duration lets the model choose the length, so the Studio holds enough for the longest clip on the largest canvas. That is about $1.12 on Seedance 2.0 Fast at 720p and about $8.63 on Seedance 2.5 at 720p. The unused part returns when the clip settles, but the hold has to fit in your balance first. Seedance 2.5 starts on Auto duration; pick a fixed length if your balance is tight.

Which Seedance to use

  • Seedance 2.0 Mini for high volumes of short 480p or 720p clips, and for drafting a prompt cheaply.
  • Seedance 2.0 Fast has the same controls as Mini at twice the rate. Run the same prompt on both and keep whichever result you prefer.
  • Seedance 2.0 when you need 1080p or 4K and fixed lengths up to 15 seconds are enough.
  • Seedance 2.5 for clips longer than 15 seconds, heavily referenced shots, or editing and extending existing video.

FAQ

Which Seedance model is cheapest?

Seedance 2.0 Mini, at $1.7086 per million tokens: about $0.09 for 5 seconds at 480p and $0.19 at 720p.

Can Seedance 2.0 Mini or Fast render 1080p?

No. Both stop at 720p. Use Seedance 2.0 or Seedance 2.5 for 1080p, and Seedance 2.0 for 4K.

Does audio cost extra on Seedance?

No. All four have one token rate per resolution whether Generate audio is on or off.

Why is a 4K Seedance 2.0 clip not four times the 1080p price?

Its 4K rate is $4.94 per million tokens against $9.5095 at 1080p, so the larger token count is billed at about half the rate.
